After some serious writing over the summer the new project is now in the final phase. Its basically a course in creating websites without having to know any HTML, the coding used on web pages. Most of the people I’ve met in the past who are looking to go online have no interest whatsoever in learning the technical side of building web sites.
For a start its difficult. Even with basic HTML it took some time to get to grips with it. My background is technical but I still found all this coding tiresome. With the latest websites using PHP you might as well forget it, just too difficult and time consuming.
For me the conventional way for building websites is in the dark ages. With Web 2 and the new methods that are emerging you can build websites with no technical knowledge at all. If you can type, cut and paste and insert images as you would with Word or Publisher you can build professional looking websites.
The newbies course I’m writing, called Web 1, will cover all the basic skills needed to build your first website and the first module is Fast Web Site 1 which shows how to build sales letter Minisites and Article sites direct from Word documents. This module will be available in January 2008.
